Army 3 division inter-brigade competition begins in Bauchi

The 3 Division Nigerian Army inter-brigade competition began in Shadwanka Bauchi on Monday for Warrant Officers (WOs) and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs).

Brig. Gen.Emmanuel Egbe, Commander 33 Artillery Brigade said in Bauchi the competition was aimed to enhance physical fitness, and firing skills, encourage esprit-de-corps” amongst the troops, and improve the standard of battle readiness.

He said the competition is between 6 formations, including 6 brigades Taraba, 23 Brigade Yola, 33 Artillery Brigade Bauchi, 43 Division Engineers Jos, 53 Signals Brigade Jos, and 3 Division Garrison Jos.

“The competition would be Future Drill competition, Combat Swimming competition, Map Reading and Navigation competition, firing competition as well as Combat run and Obstacle Crossing competition.

According to him, the competition which is organized under the guidance and direction of the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander Operation Safe Haven, Maj. Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar is inline with the command philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.

“To transform the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, Equipped and Highly Motivated Force Towards Achieving our Constitutional Responsibilities within a Joint Environment.”

“I have made all necessary arrangements to provide participants with the environment to make you comfortable competing in the spirit of sportsmanship in 33 Artillery Brigade, Shadawanka Barracks Bauchi.

Egbe urged the umpire of the competition to be fair to all participants, and at the end of this competition, the best out of them shall emerge.

He appreciated the GOC General 3 Division and Commander Operation Safe Haven for choosing my Brigade to host this competition.

“Also, to the Chief of Army Staff for his support, interest and commitment to ensuring officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army train in such a competitive manner.

In a remark, Alhaji Abdulhamid Bununu, Bauchi State Commissioner for Internal security appreciated the Nigeria Military for securing the nation for numerous security challenges.

He assured that the administration of Gov Bala Mohammed would continue to support security agencies for their doggedness to keep the country safe.
