Army ‘Ill Partner Communities To Combat Security Challenges – Lagbaja

The chief of army staff, (COAS). Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja says Nigerian Army would partner communities to combat security challenges bedeviling the nation.
He called on Nigerians to support troops in their battle against insecurity in the country.
Lagbaja made the disclosure on Sunday at the commissioning of 28 Support Engineer Regiment Barracks, Sifawa , Sokoto State.
The army chief said the essence of bringing Army closer to people is to help combating emerging security challenges.
He noted that the new barracks would enhance regimentation and also will help in bringing security apparatus closer to people.
“I must admit that the nation has faced some security challenges along the way, but the troops have been responding to these challenges across the country,”
“We will continue to do all within our power to combat every security challenge confronting the country and meet the expectations of the country in providing a secure environment for economic activities to thrive.
He thanked the immediate past chief of army staff Lt Gen Farouk Yahaya (Rtd) for his conviction in putting resources together in building the barracks.
He stated that the facilities in the barracks is not only meant for the Army but would also be used by the community.

“You know our medical corps do say all lives are precious, so the people of this community can use our medical facility he added.
Earlier the former chief of army staff Lt Gen Farouk Yahaya Rtd thanked the Chief of army staff Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, for honouring the commissioning of the barracks despite his tight schedule.
He noted that bringing security apparatus closer to people become necessary in view of the emerging security challenges in the country.
He implored the commanding officer in charge of the barracks to inculcate maintenance culture
