Bagudu interacts with 181 traditional rulers on agriculture, infrastructural development.

Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, on Wednesday, in Birnin Kebbi has interacted with One Hundred and Eighty One District Heads in the state on how to improve agriculture, fast track infrastructural development, Health, Education, Empowerment and other critical issues in their domains.

The interactive meeting which was held at the College of Nursing Sciences, Birnin Kebbi was also attended by SSG, Babale Umar Yauri, Head of Service, Sufyanu Garba Bena, officials from CBN, NIRSAL, Kebbi Agricultural and Rural Development Agency (KARDA) , State Emergency Management Agency ( SEMA), Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, Special Advisers local Government Chairmen and other top Government functionaries.

The Kebbi state Governor stated that, the meeting was convened centrally to promote agriculture and general development of people in the state so as to have the contribution of traditional institution as well as align certain issues on agriculture and development.

He said that , other part of the reasons for convening the meeting was to brainstorm on how to ensure that , all parts of the state equitably benefit from various intervention programmes from the various agencies and the three tiers of government .

Bagudu also stressed the need for the identification of the comparative advantages of each District in the State , with a view to fully developing it.

He disclosed plans to assist the victims of the devastating 2020 flood disasters, across the state .

The Governor stated that, committees will be set up for each of the 21 local governments , that will work with the District Heads .

” These committees must work expeditiously to ensure that these unfortunate victims of the flood disasters get the required assistance speedily .

” This is to enable them get set , bounce back and go back to their various farms, with a view to producing more food for themselves, the state and other parts of Nigeria,” Bagudu, added .

The governor also said that, the state has been selected to benefit from an African Development Bank Intervention programme , hence , will get loans for it .

He explained that, the loan scheme will enable the state to consolidate its existing irrigation schemes , as well as inititiate new ones across the state .

He advised the traditional rulers to forward proposal about areas of intervention in their areas for prompt government attention while promising to look into requests presented before him on roads, power supply, reinforced security, agricultural input, as well a as palaces and vehicles for District Heads.

He also appreciated the sustained support and fervent prayers of the traditional rulers and the generality of the people of the state,noting that, such happy tempo has helped to keep Kebbi State largely peaceful.

Earlier, in his welcome remarks, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Hassan Muhammad Shalla commended the governor for involvement of traditional rulers on critical issues that concerns the state.

The representatives of NIRSAL, Mikailu Abdullahi, Central Bank of Nigeria, Sabo Altine, Special Adviser on Energy, Alhaji Yusuf Haruna Rashid , Special Adviser on Security, rtd Major Garba Rabiu Kamba and Special Adviser SEMA , Alh. Sani Dododo commended the Governor for his people oriented programs as well as for involving traditional rulers in the affairs of the state.

The representatives of NIRSAL, CBN, Special Adviser on Energy, SEMA and Security all took time to respond to questions from the districts heads and explain the various programs and interventions of government .

The district head of Gwadangaji , Alhaji Umar Ahmed who responded on behalf of the District Heads ,appreciated the Governor for carrying them along on issus of governance especially as it affects their domains

He expressed their readiness to continue to be loyal and supportive for the success of the present administration.
