Breaking: Gov. Buni Approved the Employment of 267 to Bolsters Healthcare Workforce
Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has authorized the immediate employment of 267 health technicians, significantly strengthening the state’s healthcare system. This initiative addresses critical staffing needs in healthcare facilities across Yobe.
A key component of this effort is the integration of 140 “Buni Scholars,” recent graduates from medical science programs in India. These scholars, sponsored by the state, bring a diverse range of expertise, including:
* 43 Bachelor of Science in Nursing
* 43 Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
* 22 Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science
* 24 Bachelor of Science in Radiology
* 7 Bachelor of Science in Optometry
* 1 Bachelor of Science in Public Health
In addition to the Buni Scholars, Governor Buni has approved the hiring of 127 experienced health technicians who have been serving as volunteers in state healthcare institutions. This move formalizes their contributions and provides them with secure employment.
The Buni Scholars will be placed on the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) 8, while the volunteer technicians will be placed on CONHESS 6/2.

This employment drive is part of Governor Buni’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare access and quality in Yobe State. Over the past five years, his administration has consistently provided automatic employment to graduates of the Shehu Sule College of Nursing and Midwifery. Furthermore, the government has:
* Established primary healthcare centers in all political wards.
* Upgraded four general hospitals to specialist hospitals.
* Upgraded eight primary healthcare centers to general hospitals.
* Equipped the state teaching hospital with modern medical technology.
These initiatives demonstrate the government’s dedication to making healthcare accessible and affordable for all residents of Yobe State.
