Breaking: Sokoto Govt Express Fears Over Emerging Faith-Based Criminal Gang, “LAKURAWA”

Sokoto State Government has expressed worry over what it termed emergence of a new criminal group operating under a faith based idealist
called LAKURAWAS.
Registering his fears over the new group, the state deputy governor, Alhaji Idris Mohammed further divulged that the LAKURAWAS operates with dangerous weapons in 5 local government areas of the state.
Addressing participants of course 33 of the National Defence College, Abuja who are on study tour in the state, the deputy governor said this is coming at a time when efforts are on to stem the tide of banditry and other forms of criminality in the state.
While noting that the state government with relevant security agencies are working round the clock to curtail the emerging threat post by these LAKURAWA gangs, the deputy governor
expressed hope that the study tour will provide the required insight to the authorities on the nature of the unfolding criminal activities and proffer solutions that would guarantee security of lives and peaceful coexistence among the people of the state.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the course 33 National Defence College delegation, Air Vice Marshal Titus Zuwahu Dauda said the college was established in 1992 as the highest military education institution in the country.
A statement by the Director Press to the deputy governor, Garba Mohammed, quoted the leader of the delegation as saying the college has graduated 2,982 participants from other African and Asian countries.
He further added that, the college was dedicated in the selection of officers from military, police and strategic agencies to prepare them for strategic responsibilities.
