Buni approves scholarship for 148 Yobe law graduates

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has approved scholarships for 148 indigenes admitted into the 2026 academic session of the Nigerian Law School.

The approval was announced on Friday during a joint meeting of the Yobe State Scholarships Board convened for the disbursement of funds.

The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Bello Kawuwa, said the government would continue to prioritise education and support every citizen of the state in pursuing education at all levels.

He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector and providing a solid foundation for future generations.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Scholarship Board, Dr Kagu Abubakar, said each beneficiary received a scholarship grant of N475,000 along with a brand-new laptop to support their academic pursuits — a comprehensive package designed to ease the financial burden of Law School training and enhance academic performance.

According to him, the total number of law graduates sponsored by the Buni administration since 2020 has risen to 719.

“Most of these beneficiaries have completed their studies and are now practising lawyers, contributing meaningfully to the justice sector and national development.

“The Governor also approved financial support for 11 candidates undertaking resit examinations at the Nigerian Law School, reaffirming his administration’s resolve to ensure that no Yobe indigene is left behind in the pursuit of professional qualification,” he said. Daily Trust
