Buni unveils Maidawa Arewa media’s 5-year strategic plan
Yobe state governor Mai Mala Buni has on Sunday launched a 5 year strategic development plan for Maidawa Arewa media in Damaturu, Yobe state capital.
Governor Buni, represented by the Commissioner of home affairs information and culture, Alhaji Abdullahi Bego, congratulated the maidawa media team for such a bold step and important initiative in the state.
He revealed the government will ensure that young people in the state improve in their skills.
Bego further assured that he would continue to support media outfits in the state for the growth of mass media through engagement in order to support responsible journalism.
He encouraged Maidawa Arewa media team to have focus on their mission and also be dedicated to work so as to earned the people’s trust.
Speaking on the emergence of Maidawa Arewa media, CEO/ Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Wadzani Apagu, explained that the platform was born out of the need for reliable and in-depth reportage of events in the North-east, particularly after the devastating Boko Haram attack on Damaturu in 2014.

He revealed that Maidawa Arewa is an online news source founded in 2017 which dedicated to serving communities across North-East Nigeria.
He further noted that that Maidawa Arewa also has a mission to empower communities by providing accessible, reliable and relevant news and information.
“The five years plan recognizing the interconnectedness of gender-based violence, climate change, education, security threat ,and health issues in the north-East Nigeria aims to build resilient communities capable of not only responding effectively to the current challenges but also withstanding future ones,” he said.
In his keynote address, Musa Usman konduga,a lecturer at the mass communication department, University of Maiduguri emphasized on the role of mass media in community development.
