Christmas: Gov Sule felicitates Christians, urges religious tolerance
Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has felicitated Christians in the state as they celebrate Christmas, urging them to embrace religious tolerance, peace and unity.
Sule, in a statement issued to newsmen on Wednesday in Lafia, said Christmas marked the birth of Jesus Christ, which symbolised love, peace, humility and dignity for mankind.
He noted that the life and teachings of Jesus Christ exemplified self-sacrifice, good neighbourliness, charity and reconciliation, and called on Christians to reflect on these virtues during the festive season.
According to him, the celebration provides an opportunity for sober reflection and a reaffirmation of moral values as taught by Jesus Christ.
The governor urged Christians in the state and in the diaspora to imbibe the teachings of Christ by showing love, sharing with one another and giving alms, in line with biblical injunctions.
He also called on the faithful to use the sacred period to pray for sustainable peace, security, prosperity and the overall well-being of Nasarawa State and the country.
Sule described the season as one of immense blessings and sacrifice, and appealed to all residents to take advantage of the period to pray for harmonious coexistence nationwide.
He advised Nigerians, particularly the youth, to avoid extravagance and flamboyant lifestyles, and to be guided by the fear of God at all times.
The governor further urged the people of the state to exhibit brotherliness in their conduct, irrespective of religious, ethnic or political differences.

He called on citizens to unite in prayers and collective action against criminal elements, adding that Nasarawa State was known for peace, which had remained the foundation for its developmental strides.
The governor also advised road users to be cautious and obey traffic rules during the festivities, while urging the Federal Road Safety Corps and other relevant agencies to intensify surveillance to ensure an accident-free yuletide season.
