Commander seeks relocation of NDLEA Zone 1 headquarters to Yobe
Mr Markus Ayuba, Commander, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Zone 1, has recommended the relocation of the zonal headquarters from Bauchi to Yobe.
Ayuba made this known when he paid a courtesy visit to Gov Mai Mala Buni on Wednesday in Damaturu.
He said he had informed the NDLEA national headquarters about the proposal in view of the state’s massive investment in the war against illicit drug abuse.
The commander noted that the Yobe command of the agency received unprecedented support from the state government through provision of standard office accommodation, refurbishment of operational vehicles, among others.
“Yobe is a dependable partner in the war against drug abuse.
“If Yobe’s support in this war will be done across board, supply and demand of drugs will be reduced and drug abuse can be conquered,” Ayuba said.
He said he was in Yobe to strengthen partnership between the state government and NDLEA, adding that the agency alone could not tackle drug abuse.

In his remarks, Buni, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Idi Gubana, said Yobe was ready to accommodate the zonal office if relocated to the state.
He assured Ayuba that the state would continue to support operations of the agency to deliver on its mandates.
He commended the NDLEA National Chairman, retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa, for his onslaught on drug lords and cartels across the country.
The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that Zone 1 comprises of Bauchi, Yobe and Borno.
