Congress: Sokoto APC Adopts Consensus Option
As speaker , Salame absent at stakeholders.meeting.

Sokoto State chapter of All Progressive Congress has adopted consensus option in choosing it executives in the forth coming wards, local governments and state congress .
Rising from major stakeholders meeting on Sunday at the residence of the Party leader, at Gawon Nama, Sokoto , the party agreed that consensus option is best for the forth coming Congresses in the state.
The meeting was attended by Senator Ibrahim Abdullahi Gobir, representing Sokoto East Senatorial District, and the host, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, representing Sokoto North Senatorial District.
Also at the meeting, was the Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi and Executive Secretary, Police Trust Find, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu
Six out of the Seven APC Members of the House of Representatives, as well as thirteen out of the fifteen APC members of the State House of Assembly, were also in attendance.
This is in addition to the entire members of the State Party Elders Committee, Led by Alhaji Abdullahi Aminu, State Caretaker Executive Committee, Led by Hon. Isa Sadiq Acida and the entire 23 Local Government Party Chairmen who came along with most of their local government party stakeholders.
Most former members of the State Executive Council and State Assembly who are party members also attended the meeting.

The meeting was first briefed by the Caretaker Committee Chairman on the guidelines and directives issued by the National Caretaker Committee in respect of the forth coming congresses, billed to start on Saturday the 31st of July. He also informed the meeting about the state of preparedness of the Sokoto State Chapter.
Following the Caretaker Chairman’s briefing, representatives of the various interest groups were invited to make observations and contributions towards arriving at a decision.
Having considered all the available options, as contained in the guidelines, the meeting unanimously decided to adopt the concensus option, as far as practicable. The meeting observed that the choice of consensus was guided by the need to reduce acrimony and uphold party unity.
In another development the speaker of Sokoto State house of assembly Muhammad Aminu Achida and the member representing Illela / Gwadabawa federal constituency Balarabe Salame were conspicuously absent.
Thisday gathered that the duo of Salame and the Speaker have been battling with Senator Wamakko for the control of party structure in the state.
While Salame is nursing an ambition to contest governorship election in 2023 , Achida it revealed was not in good term with Wamakko
Achida defeated Wamakko candidate Abdullahi Sidi to emerged the speaker of the state Assembly against the wish of the party .
In 2019 the APC control house with the backing of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal elected Achida as a speaker of the state house of assembly with Abubakar Magaj of PDP as deputy speaker .
But as it stands now APC and PDP are having equal number of 15/15 in the house.
Some APC members in the state are referring to Salame and Achida as the PDP mole in the party which they said it is high time to get rid of them.
