Executive Order: Fintiri Bans Scavenging In Adamawa
The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, has signed an Executive Order banning scavenging activities across the state.
The development was contained in a statement made available to Saturday Telegraph in Yola, the state capital by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou.
Following the new directives, scavengers were prohibited from all the 21 Local Government Areas of the State with immediate effect.
According to Wonosikou, the prohibition defines scavenging as “the act of rummaging through waste or engaging in any activity that constitutes a nuisance or health hazard.”
The statement warned that individuals found engaging in scavenging will face arrest and prosecution and the order empowers security agents to search for and arrest violators.
Those found guilty of circumventing or interfering with the enforcement of this order, or attempting to offer bribes, will face prosecution under the provisions of the Constitution of Nigeria and the Adamawa State Penal Code Law, 2018.
