FA Cup: Enyimba goalkeeper talks tough ahead Elshama encounter
Zali Abdullahi, Enyimba FC Goalkeeper, has expressed optimism that his team will win Wednesday’s President Cup encounter against amateur club, Elshama FC of Gombe, scheduled for the Lafia City Stadium.
Abdullahi expressed his optimism in Aba on Tuesday, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said that the team would approach the game with the seriousness it deserved in order not to give room for complacency.
“We want to reclaim the prestigious trophy this season.”
NAN reports that the match between the NPFL giants Enyimba and Elshama marks the first ever meeting between both sides in all competitions.
Abdullahi who serves as an assistant to the first choice goalkeeper Ani Ozoemena, said that Enyimba would not underrate their opponents in spite of their lower division status.
“Yes, concerning the Federation Cup, we will not take any game for granted.
“We will treat every game like we are playing a league match, and as a final match.”
According to Abdullahi, the experience gathered while playing with Doma FC of Gombe, would see him through the encounter.

“I have been in Gombe for three years, I know how they play, and we will take them seriously because it will not be that easy as people are seeing it.
“We know they will be at their best hearing the name Enyimba, but the ball is in our court to determine.
“We will play them like we are playing in the final, and we promise our fans that this year will not be like the other year.
“Enyimba will be in the final of this year’s Federation/President Cup, and we will emerge champions,” Abdullahi said.
VMT NEWS reports that the match is scheduled to kickoff by 8 a.m., at the Lafia Township Stadium.
