FAAN, ATOM partner on aviation training

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ATOM Training Services, an aviation institute based in Dubai.

This is contained in a statement on Sunday by Mrs Obiageli Orah, FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection.

Orah said the strategic partnership aligns with FAAN’s efforts to deliver on the six-point agenda of its Managing Director, Mrs Olubunmi Kuku.

She noted that the agreement, signed through FAAN’s training school, boosts staff competence, particularly in critical safety and operational areas.

According to her, the initiative began earlier in the year, after several planning sessions and strategic engagements between both organisations.

She stated that the MoU was officially signed on 22 July 2025 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, by both parties.

FAAN’s delegation was led by Dr Luqman Emiola, Director of Human Resources and Administration, while ATOM was represented by Abdulla Almemari.

During the visit, the FAAN team toured the ATOM facility and held detailed discussions with its management, leading to the MoU signing.

Orah noted that FAAN would benefit greatly from ATOM’s expertise in delivering ICAO-compliant, industry-specific aviation training programmes.

ATOM provides tailored solutions to boost skills, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness among aviation personnel.

She explained that areas such as air traffic management, emergency response, and safety oversight would be enhanced through this collaboration.

FAAN’s workforce is set to benefit from globally benchmarked training, reinforcing its commitment to safe and efficient airport operations.

She described the partnership as a strategic investment in workforce capacity and the pursuit of aviation excellence.

Orah added that the collaboration supports the training department’s plan to align FAAN’s practices with global aviation standards.

She said it aims to improve staff efficiency and promote growth through internationally recognised professional development programmes.

Since taking office in December 2023, Kuku has overseen the training and certification of over 3,000 staff across various operational domains.
