FCE Yola marks 50th anniversary, boasts of 40,000 graduates
The Federal College of Education (FCE), Yola, Adamawa, on Saturday marked its 50th anniversary and boasted that it had produced 40,000 teachers.
Mr Shared Johnson, Chairman of its Governing Council, in a speech at the ceremony, said that the graduants were “all over the nation, serving Nigeria diligently”.
Johnson appreciated the federal and state governments as well as TetFund and North East Development Commission (NEDC), for the support and contributions toward the development of the institution.
“We thank God for blessing us and guiding us to be a shinning example among Colleges of Educations in the country,” he said.
In his address, Muhammad Dagereji, Provost of the college, thanked those that contributed to the development of college since its inception.
He said that 11 persons were being honoured with award for their outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the college and humanity.
Of the awardees, eight are late but were remembered because of their numerous contributions.
Among the awardees, he said, is Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, Deputy Governor of Adamawa, who was considered because of her achievements and the fact that she had become a role model for students being a product of the college.

Nathan Musa, retired Chief Judge of Adamawa and Chairman of the occasion, described the college as “a beacon of knowledge”
While acknowledging the contributions of the awardees, Musa called on all stakeholders to continue to support the college for a brighter future.
The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that a Book – “Contribution of education to national development festschrift”, written in honor of Late Gidado Tahir, pioneer Provost of the college, was launched at the occasion.
