A Non Governmental Organisation, Baobab for Women’s Human Rights has called on Zamfara state government to ensure the full implementation of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law in the state.
The Zamfara Coordinator of the NGO, Hajiya Rabi Ibrahim, made the call in Gusau at the rally to mark the 2023 16 Days Activism Against GBV.
Ibrahim also called for collaborative efforts in tackling the increasing number of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) cases in Zamfara.
According to her, the increasing number of GBV cases in the state remained a source of serious concern for all stakeholders.
“We appeal to the state government to ensure the full implementation of (VAPP) Law in this state.
“The VAPP law had already been domesticated in the state by the previous administration.
“We want full implementation of the law, as we all know the content of the law has a greater role to play in the fight against GBV.
“In this year’s campaigns, we are targeting men and boys who are mostly perpetrators of GBV in society,”she explained.
