Flood Victims Receive Buni’s Cash Support In Nangere LGA

Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has commenced payment of cash stimulus to 953 Pre-Registered Flood Victims in Nangere.

This is in line with the directives of Governor Mai Mala Buni to Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) where it began payment of N20,000 cash stimulus to the 954 Flood victims of Nangere Local Government Area of the state for those registered between 7th July- 18th August 2024 respectively.

Executive Secretary SEMA, Dr. Mohammed Goje, said, “This is in addition to other support in the form of Food and Non-food items earlier distributed to the flood victims. While the beneficiaries outnumbered the target of 954, more resources and intervention are underway to support the victims across Nangere and other LGAs”.

“The beneficiaries cut across communities from the four wards of Chukuriwa, Dawasa, Pakarau, and Nangere who were earlier hit by the flood incidents within the period under review.”

In Nangere, the disbursement exercise was done by the Chairman of Nangere Local, Alhaji Samaila Musa.

While the first tranche of payment began with 492HH, subsequent payment of the remaining beneficiaries will follow as validation continues.

Nangere LGA is amongst the worst hit LGAs by the 2024 flood, affecting over 3000 HH, with 5 deaths recorded as of Sept 2024.

The Executive Secretary of SEMA Dr. Mohammed Goje while thanking Nagere Stakeholders for their cooperation and support in ensuring no beneficiary is shortchanged and vulnerability is prioritized assured them of more support in the coming days as he said, “His Excellency is pulling more resources to support flood victims.”
