FRSC advises motorists against route violation, indiscriminate parking

The Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC), Ota Unit Command, in Ogun has advised motorists to desist from indiscriminate parking and route violation to prevent road  crashes.

Mr Akeem Ganiyu, the Ota Unit Commander of FRSC, gave the advice while speaking at a news conference to mark 2023 United Nation Global Road Safety Week (UNGRSW) on Monday in Ota.

The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that theme of this year exercise is “Sustainable Transport”.

Ganiyu said that the advice was necessary due to infraction on roads by motorists which included indiscriminate parking and route violations.

According to him, they are the commonest offences committed by motorists at Ota and its environs.

“The FRSC is appealing to motorists to refrain from indiscriminate parking and route violation because some of the road crashes could be attributed to these two factors,” he said.

Ganiyu said that this year’s United Nation Road Safety Day is 7th and a bi-annual programme, taking place globally and across the country.

Ganiyu said that each of the commander had been directed from the headquarters in Abuja to implement the exercise at their various domain.

He said that the command would be going to mosques on Friday and churches on Sunday as part of the activities to mark this year’s exercise.

Ganiyu added that the personnel and Special Marshals would go to the General Hospital on Saturday to visit and give gifts to accident victims.
