FUOYE VC urges Mgt. to sustain proactive engagement to enhance growth
The outgoing Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Abayomi Fasina has urged management of the university to sustain proactive engagement with relevant government authorities.
He gave the advice during a news conference to commence the 10th Convocation ceremony of the university on Monday in Oye-Ekiti.
Fasina urged his successor, Prof. Olalekan Ogunwole to strengthen the relationship between the governing council and the management to enhance the desired progress.
The Vice-Chancellor said he was able to complete 160 projects on the two campuses of the university in five years of his tenure due to massive support of the governing council.
Fasina charged the university’s management to diversify revenues through grants, partnerships, endowments and consultancy services, and sustain aggressive drive for infrastructural development.
He said the major sources of funds he used for the 160 projects were the Internally Generated Revenue(IGR), TETFUND grants, donations from friends and some prominent Nigerians.
“As I leave my position as the Vice Chancellor of FUOYE, I want to urge my successor and his management team to give priority to my following advice and recommendations.
” For any university to achieve a unique success in all ramifications, it must sustain proactive engagement with regulators and relevant government authorities, ” he said.

He strongly advised FUOYE to strengthen university industry linkages, including development of an industrial park model built around public, private and academic leadership.
“I want to encourage FUOYE management to sustain capacity development through increased investment in staff training and continuous professional development,” he said.
Fasina further urged his successor to faithfully and rigorously implement FUOYE 25 years Strategic Plan that would enable the university to be reckoned with as a World class citadel of learning.
The Voice Media trust (VMT NEWS) reports that Prof. Abayomi Fasina will be leaving the office of the Vice Chancellor of FUOYE on Feb.10, 2026, when his tenure expires.
His successor, Prof. Olalekan Ogunwole will assume office as the 5th substantive vice chancellor of the university on Feb.11. 2026
