Ghana President Reshuffles Cabinet, Appoints New Finance Minister Amid Economic Crisis

Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo has announced a significant cabinet reshuffle, which includes the replacement of finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta, who has faced criticism for his handling of the country’s severe economic crisis. The president has appointed lawmaker Mohammed Amin Adam to take over the position, signaling a shift in leadership as the nation grapples with its worst economic challenges in a generation.

Ofori-Atta, a former banker who had served as finance minister since 2017, was removed from his post as part of the reshuffle, which is seen by analysts as a strategic move ahead of the upcoming elections later in the year. The decision to replace Ofori-Atta comes in the wake of public protests and concerns over his management of the economy, with critics citing his perceived incompetence in addressing the country’s financial woes.
