Gombe State’s Director-General of Press Affairs Wins Prestigious National Spokesperson Award

Ismaila Uba Misilli, the Director-General of Press Affairs at the Government House in Gombe State, has been named the “Most Outstanding Spokesperson of the Year” in the State Government category at the 4th National Spokespersons Awards. This marks Misilli’s second consecutive win, cementing his reputation as a leading voice in public communication.

The award was presented at a grand ceremony held at the Abuja Continental Hotel, where spokespersons from across Nigeria’s 36 states, federal ministries, and agencies, including the Presidency, gathered to celebrate excellence in public relations.  The event, organized by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in collaboration with Image Merchants Promotions Limited and supported by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation,  featured a three-day summit with insightful sessions led by prominent figures including the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen.

Misilli’s selection was based on his exceptional contributions to public communication and governance support. The jury highlighted his calm demeanor, sharp intellect, and unwavering work ethic, praising his ability to effectively communicate complex information and engage diverse audiences.

“Misilli has redefined standards for public communication in governance,” the selection committee stated. “Under his leadership, Gombe State’s media apparatus has experienced a renaissance.”

The jury further noted Misilli’s strategic management of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s public image, his mentorship of young communicators, and his prolific contributions to national discourse through op-eds, policy clarifications, and explanatory articles published in leading newspapers.

In his acceptance speech, Misilli dedicated the award to Governor Yahaya, attributing his success to the governor’s visionary leadership and unwavering support.  He also expressed gratitude to his family, colleagues, and the entire Government House media team, recognizing the award as a testament to their collective dedication and teamwork.
