Gov. Buni’s Agricultural Initiative Provides Relief and Hope to 1,000 Displaced Households and their Host Communities

Yobe State Governor, His Excellency Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON (Chiroman Gujba), has received widespread commendation for his administration’s ongoing commitment to supporting displaced persons and vulnerable communities.

This follows a significant agricultural input distribution program launched on June 16, 2025 at the Government House Damaturu Event Centre.

The program, overseen by the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), provided 1,000 farming households with essential agricultural inputs.

These inputs included high-yield seeds, fertilizers, farming tools, herbicides, solar powered water pumps for irrigation, hoes and cutlass among others.

The beneficiaries comprised both displaced residents and members of their host communities. This targeted approach aims to bolster agricultural production and enhance food security within these affected areas.

The distribution ceremony was attended by a diverse group of stakeholders, including representatives, relevant government ministries, development partners, community leaders, and beneficiaries themselves.

Governor Buni, addressing the gathering, reiterated his administration’s unwavering dedication to ensuring the self-sufficiency and resilience of displaced populations and vulnerable groups.

He emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for these communities to rebuild their lives with dignity and independence.

Expanding on this initiative, the Yobe State Government, in partnership with the Swiss Government, will distribute agricultural inputs and livestock to an additional 2,000 households across four local government areas: Tarmuwa, Geidam, Gujba, and Damaturu.

This broader program aligns with the Minimum Household Package for Durable Solutions to internal displacement, providing sustainable support to vulnerable families.

Governor Buni concluded by reaffirming his administration’s dedication to finding durable solutions for internal displacement.  He highlighted the significance of ongoing investments in initiatives that strengthen food security and foster economic self-reliance.

“Our vision is to create a state where displaced persons and vulnerable households can rebuild their lives with dignity, resilience, and self-reliance,” the Governor stated.

The Governor’s proactive leadership in humanitarian and developmental initiatives continues to gain recognition, reinforcing his reputation as a champion of sustainable development in Yobe State.
