Gov Idris concludes LG ‘Thank You’ Visit, pledges sustainable development
Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has reaffirmed his commitment to the development of the state and improving the well-being of the people.
He gave the assurance in Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area on Monday at the final stage of his thank-you visit to all the 21 local government areas of the state.

Governor Idris expressed gratitude to the people for their overwhelming support in the 2023 election, which led to his victory under the APC.
He assured the people of Birnin Kebbi local Government Area that his administration remained dedicated to uplifting their standard of living and transforming the state capital.
“The people of Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area can attest to the rapid development recorded in the state capital within a short period,” he stated.

Highlighting key achievements in less than two years, he listed the payment of school fees, construction of roads, appointment of over 6,000 advisers and assistants, employment of 2,000 teachers, and the renovation of mosques and palaces of the four Emirs in the state.
“Also, District Heads will be empowered to renovate their official residences directly to their taste, to avoid shoddy job by contractors”, the governor said.
Additionally, he announced that the state government has purchased 300 truckload of assorted food items for free Ramadan feeding, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to supporting communities.

“As long as I remain Governor, my administration will continue to provide free grains to the people, free fertilizer to farmers, and ensure substantial support to free education,” he declared.
Governor Idris also revealed that school feeding had been increased to ₦300 million monthly to encourage students’ academic pursuits.
He reiterated his commitment to run an open and inclusive governance, rural and urban development, and the construction of access roads to ease the movement of farm produce.

The APC Chairman of Birnin Kebbi Local Government, Sani Bello, pledged continued support for Governor Idris and commended stakeholders for their cooperation.
At the event, over 200 defectors from the PDP were received into the APC by the Governor and the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru.
One of the defectors, Alhaji Al-Mustapha Yari, said they were impressed by the Governor’s developmental strides and the warm reception they received.

“We have no reason to remain in the PDP, our leaders are now back in the APC, and we acknowledge the Governor’s efforts in transforming Kebbi State,” he stated.
Another defector, Tukur Dan Kawu, described Governor Idris as a long-time friend since his tenure as NUT Chairman, commending his compassion for the people.
The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Halima Muhammad Bande, outlined Governor Idris’ achievements in the education sector, including the construction of 31 new schools as well as the rehabilitation of others, employment of 2,000 teachers, elongation of teachers’ service years, regular payment of WAEC examination fees, and the sponsorship of the National Quranic Recitation Competition.
The Chairman of Birnin Kebbi Local Government stakeholders, Hon. Abubakar Chika Birnin Kebbi, who is the Commissioner for Finance, expressed appreciation for the Governor’s contribution, urging residents to sustain their support.

“No indigene of Birnin Kebbi should remain in the opposition if they desire development,” he stated.
In support of the party, the Commissioners for Finance, Works, Information and Culture, and Justice collectively donated 15 motorcycles for APC ward chairmen, 15 motorcycles for secretaries, one car for the LG party chairman, one car for the LG party secretary, and a Sharon vehicle for party activities.
Governor Idris received and presented the keys to the beneficiaries.
