Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and the leadership of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday aimed at implementing measures to prevent corruption in project implementation. The signing took place at the Osun Government House in Osogbo.

At the event, ICPC Chairman Dr. Musa Aliyu (SAN) emphasized that the partnership goes beyond preventing corruption and includes adopting more effective strategies in the fight against graft. Aliyu highlighted the necessity of a collaborative approach, stating that defeating corruption requires the concerted efforts of all stakeholders across the three tiers of government.

“This collaboration embodies our collective resolve to combat corruption and foster a culture of integrity and accountability in Osun State,” Aliyu said. “Our collaboration with the Osun State Government is a testament to this belief. Together, we will galvanize support, implement necessary preventive measures, and adopt a more effective strategy in our battle against corruption. This also aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda for improved governance for effective service delivery.”

Aliyu called for the cooperation of Nigerians to help the ICPC achieve its goal of eliminating corrupt practices in the country. He stressed that the success in combating corruption is not just for the present generation but also for the future of the nation, aiming to create a society where integrity, transparency, and accountability are the norms.

In his remarks, Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to selfless service and warned against corrupt practices within his administration. “During the inauguration of my cabinet, I openly warned those with a corrupt mindset to opt out before it is too late. We apply rigorous vetting in the financial approval process and ensure the enforcement of procurement laws without fear or favor,” Adeleke stated.

The governor expressed his government’s enthusiasm for partnering with the ICPC to enhance good governance, particularly in terms of anti-corruption protocols. “Our government is elated to partner with the ICPC to further deepen good governance, especially in terms of anti-corruption protocols. The anti-corruption agencies have delicate assignments which demand the support and cooperation of those holding top government offices. Our government is today demonstrating this political will by entering into partnership with the ICPC on project monitoring and evaluation,” Adeleke said.

This partnership between the Osun State Government and the ICPC marks a significant step in fostering a culture of integrity and accountability in the state, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to transparency and effective service delivery.
