Governor Buni laid Wreath to commemorate fallen heroes, commended security agencies.

Yobe State Governor, (Dr) Mai Mala Buni CON has reaffirmed his administration’s continued commitment to prioritizing security and supporting the military and other security agencies.

Speaking at the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day ceremony in Damaturu, Governor Buni paid tribute to Nigeria’s gallant heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
He noted that Yobe State, which was severely affected by insurgency, is now enjoying relative peace due to the collective efforts of the military, security agencies, and the community.
“Security is a collective responsibility,” he emphasized, urging residents to continue sharing credible information with security agencies.
Governor Buni expressed pride in the military, vigilante groups, and community volunteers, assuring that security remains the top priority of his administration.

Shortly after the event, Lieutenant Goji Birma (Rtd), Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Yobe State Chapter, commended the state government for supporting veterans’ welfare, but highlighted funding as a major challenge facing the Legion.
The event featured Governor Buni releasing white doves, symbolizing peace, and plans for vocational training programmes for widows and orphans to improve their livelihoods were also announced
