Governor Buni Urges Strengthened Land and Air Force Collaboration in Yobe State’s Counter-Terrorism Efforts
Yobe State Governor,Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, today called for a significant enhancement in the synergy between the Nigerian Army and Air Force in the ongoing fight against terrorism and other criminal activities within the state.

The Governor made this appeal during a courtesy visit from the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, at the Government House in Damaturu.
Governor Buni emphasized the critical importance of collaborative operations, stating that the state government and its citizens remain firmly committed to supporting the military and all security agencies in their efforts to eradicate terrorism.

He reiterated that security is a shared responsibility and pledged the state’s unwavering support to ensure the success of ongoing counter-terrorism operations.

During the visit, Lt. Gen. Oluyede assured Governor Buni of the Army’s commitment to bolstering security in Yobe State.
He announced plans to deploy additional troops and military equipment to the region to strengthen security presence and effectiveness.

He highlighted the gravity of the threat, stating, “We cannot afford to allow the experience of the Sahara region to spread to this country. We must collectively rise to the occasion to fight this menace.”
The COAS personally underscored his commitment to preserving the peace achieved in Yobe State, drawing on his past experience as a commander in the region.
He stated, “Having worked very hard and achieved peace in Yobe as a Commander, I cannot sit and watch that peace eroded as Chief of Army Staff now.”
