Governor Yusuf Bags Infrastructure Award at Africa Housing Show
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has received the Infrastructure Development Commendation Award at the 19th Africa International Housing Show (AIHS) held on July 29, 2025, at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
The award, presented during the opening of Africa’s largest housing and construction event, recognizes Governor Yusuf’s outstanding achievements in infrastructure and affordable housing development in Kano State.
He was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Housing and Development, Arc. Ibrahim Yakubu, who received the award on his behalf and expressed the government’s appreciation for the recognition.

According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the award reflects the administration’s commitment to sustainable urban development, improved housing delivery, and the revitalization of key infrastructure projects across the state.
The Africa International Housing Show, themed “Re-Imagining Housing Through Innovation, Collaboration and Policy,” brought together policymakers, investors, and housing experts from over 21 countries.

The week-long event featured high-level policy dialogues, exhibitions on cutting-edge building technologies, mortgage and finance products, and discussions on addressing Africa’s housing challenges through sustainable and inclusive models.
Kano’s participation and recognition at the event reaffirm the state’s growing influence in shaping Nigeria’s urban development agenda, particularly in the areas of low-income housing schemes, urban renewal, and infrastructure planning.
The governor’s spokesperson further stated that the administration remains committed to delivering more impactful projects that align with global best practices and improve the living standards of the people of Kano.
