Hardship: Yahaya approves distribution of food items to Gombe residents
Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has approved the distribution of food items to vulnerable persons in the state.
This is contained in a statement on Tuesday by Ismaila Uba-Misilli, Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House, Gombe.
Uba-Misilli said the approval followed the resolutions reached at the Expanded Security Council meeting presided over by Yahaya, on Monday.
According to him, the gesture is aimed at mitigating the current economic challenges faced by residents of the state.
“The governor approved 1, 000 bags each of 50 kilogramme sorghum, and 1,000 bags 25kg rice, 1,000 cartons of pasta to deserving households in the state.
“The palliative will also see the distribution of 5,000 bags and cartons of the same items to faith-based groups, civil society organisations, unions and associations,” he said.

Uba-Misilli said tsangaya and Almajiri schools, youths and women groups and people living with disabilities would also be amongst the beneficiaries.
“The distribution would make it the 19th time, the government would be supporting residents, as part of ongoing efforts to provide relief and sustain the citizens’ wellbeing.
“Gov. Yahaya remains committed to implementing effective measures to support the citizens, and resilience to foster social stability amid economic challenges,” he said
