Heads of Security Agencies in Zamfara call for communities’ support to peace process.
Heads of security agencies in Zamfara State have called for communities support to the ongoing peace process in the state.
Governor Bello Matawalle has introduced peace process in the state to diologue with the repentant bandits as part of its measures to address security challenges facing the state.
The heads of security agencies in the state stated this at the stakeholders meeting on security challenges in the state chaired by Governor Bello Matawalle.
The meeting was also attended by the 14 out of 17 Emirs of the state, Senior District Heads, Members of the State Executive Councils, Heads of Security Agencies, Members of the State Council of Ulamas and Members of the Media among others.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Abutu Yaro said that the informants’ activities and lack of cooperation from the communities are major challenges of peace process in the state.
Yaro also lamented activities of outlawed Yansakai group, and informants are also among major issues triggering security challenges in the state.
CP called on communities in the state to assist police with useful information on security from their respective communities.

The Brigade Commander, 1 Brigade Nigerian Army Gusau, Brig. Gen. Musiliu Bello called for communities’ cooperation to Army operation in the state.
Bello noted that lack of support and cooperation from communities and informants’ activities is discouraging army operation.
He called on communities in the state to expose informants in their respective communities.
“We also faced challenges and condemnation from communities, let cooperate with us in the fight against insecurity ”, Bello said.
The Commander 207, Quick Response Group of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Base Gusau, Commondore, Solomon Lazarus seeked for community support and cooperation to Air Operation in the state.
Lazarus lamented that despite huge amount of money spent by Federal Government on Air Operation some communities are not cooperating.
He appealed to traditional, religious and community leaders support to Air operation in the state.
“As long as Nonkinetic approach is not respected, the Air Force would continue to give emphasis on kinetic approach”, Air Force Commander added.
The State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Alhaji Bature Aliyu lamented that some people in the state connive with cattle rustlers.
Aliyu said that most of the rustled cows are sold in the markets within the state.
