Health minister lauds Zulum’s 150-bed hospital project in Bolori II
The Minister of Health, Prof. Ali Pate, on Tuesday lauded the Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno’s 150-bed hospital project in Bolori II, Maiduguri.
The minister made the commendation at the inauguration of the facility and 10 ambulances for onward distribution to other health facilities in the state.
The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports the 150-bed hospital will provide specialised maternity and general diagnostic services in Bolori II and the surrounding communities.
VMT NEWS also reports that the hospital has a Radiography section, a Pharmacy, a baby care unit and Laboratory.
“Your Excellency, thank you on behalf of all of us, not only here in Borno State, but the entire North-east, for this amasing work, transforming this magnificent building into Brigadier Abba Kyari General Hospital here in Bolori II.
“From what we have heard, it will be a highly impactful effort to help drive maternal mortality, which aligns with the president’s direction.
“We will work together with you, but we want to thank you for this, and may God reward you,” he added.
Responding, Zulum said the hospital was remodelled entirely with the construction of additional facilities to serve Bolori II and the surrounding communities that lacked Secondary Health facilities in their neighbourhood.
Similarly, the minister also inaugurated an ICT Medical Institute at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), which was named after President Bola Tinubu.
The inauguration of the edifice was part of the line of activities marking the 110th general meeting of Chief Medical Directors (CMDs) in the country, being hosted by the UMTH.
The UMTH CMD, Prof. Ahmed Ahidjo, said that the just inaugurated institute has the capability to enhance and develop healthcare capacity for the medical practitioners in the country.
He, however, expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for making it possible for the teaching hospital to achieving its desired objective.
Ahidjo said that the teeming management of UMTH would remain grateful to federal government for providing the facility with enough funding to address its needs.
“We appreciate your focus and dedication. As at now, I can say we are getting whatever we asked from the Federal Government.
“Today, we are commissioning the first medical ICT centre in Nigeria, named after President Tinubu as a mark of appreciation,” the CMD said.
responding, Pate said that health sector was one of the key cardinal point of Tinubu’s government.
“In the two years of President Tinubu in office, he chose health as a cardinal point in his renewed hope of agenda, and today, the result is already manifesting.

“The president is using the sector to unify the country.
“Today, in each of the federal health centres, you will find one or two federal projects completed or going on,” the minister said.
Pate, however, commended the committee of the CMDs for their outstanding leadership which had been demonstrated in their managerial skills in providing quality healthcare service delivery in their respective locations nationwide.
“The transformation is taking up and I must say, you the Chief Medical Directors are the ones piloting the change.
“It is a great pleasure to join you today. It is fitting that the teaching hospital decided to match it with several important projects commissioning, including the ICT centre named after President Tinubu.
“So I want to thank the hospital, state government and Borno people for the warm reception,” Pate said.
