Health:NHIA sensitises stakeholders on new reforms in Yobe
National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) on Wednesday organised stakeholders’ sensitisation forum in Yobe.
The acting State Coordinator for the authority, Malam Mansur Akilu said at the occasion that the Yobe State Office deemed it necessary to update stakeholders on the new developments at the authority.
He said, “As a result of the ongoing reforms, we deemed it necessary to invite our stakeholders and update them on the reforms the authority is undergoing.”
Akilu said that the laws governing the authority had been signed, while the operational guidelines were launched on Tuesday by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate.
He further said the operational guidelines were crucial to clarifying roles, responsibilities, and obligations of various stakeholders in the health sector.
“These operational guideline serve as guiding principles where each and every stakeholder will exercise his role and operate within the scope of his limit without interference,” he said.

Akiu said that the development would address one of the major problems of the lack or shortage of drugs at some of the facilities.
“So, with this initiative, out of stock syndrome will be a thing of the past in sha Allah,” Akilu said.
He said,”Considering the socioeconomic and social status of the Nigerians, the authority had designed programmes for each and every Nigerian.
“The law makes health insurance mandatory for all citizens and legal residents in bid to achieve universal coverage.”
Akilu said that the participating stakeholders were representatives from the Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) healthcare facilities and Health Maintenance Organizations. (HMOs).
