The flag- off of the 2020/2021 drive, which took place in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday, was in collaboration with the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
While speaking at the flag – off of the drive, the Vice Chairperson of the advocates, Hajiya Asma’u Alkali, said that the drive was to compliment the efforts of parents and governments at all levels to whom the obligation and right to quality life squarely vested on.
She also lamented that the core North-West States had been left behind in the quest for western education, stressing the need for all hands to be on deck in order to revive and catch up with other sister states in the country.

“The enrolment and retention drive for 5,000 school aged girl children in the state , will in no small measure fast tract the huge backlog , and calls for sustainability of the tempo.
“This will also in no small measure prioritise education and make our children to live up to expectation and move shoulder to shoulder with their counterparts in all ramification of life endeavour in other states, ” she said.
Alkali urged the stakeholders to sustain the drive and improve upon, adding that they should not go back to sleep after the flag off until all the children took their rightful position in their respective schools.
“A scheme should be drawn in order to monitor and supervise their curriculum and extra- curriculum activities.
“Education is a child’ s right; and any efforts made by anyone towards actualising it, s indeed absolute service to humanity.
“It is obvious that our schools are doing well and we wish that they do more as our pupils are coming up with modern knowledge of the conventional teaching skills and methodologies,” she said.
She commended SUBEB and members of HILWA for making the drive a reality in spite of the odds and official engagements.
“Let me also use this opportunity to thank most specifically the Wife of the Governor, Dr Zainab Shinkafi- Bagudu for her role in the drive and the dream she has for the womenfolk and children of the state,” she said.
The vice chairperson, however, urged school administrators and teachers to focus on various learning approaches that would bring about sustainable successes in their school system.
