As part of plans by National youth service corps NYSC to give back to their host Community, Kebbi state NYSC, has offered free medical services, free diagnosis and free drugs to rural dwellers of Fingila village under Dandi local government area of Kebbi state.
According to state coordinator, Agatha Banki Okolo, the medical outreach runs under NYSC health initiative for rural dwellers (HIRD) designed by the corps to give back to the host community.
She disclosed that, the programme seeks not only assist the poor but to enlighten the populace that youth service is beyond the mandatory service to the nation but humanitarian services goes with the service year.
Banki, added that, the beneficiaries of the health initiative are rural dwellers who lack access to basic healthcare services or lack the financial muscles to meet their health needs
The health outreach embodies health care givers like medical doctors, nurses, pharmacist and laboratory scientist who on the spot diagnose ailments like malaria, diabetes and blood pressure check ups, while free drugs were given to them.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the village head of Fingila Gwade 11, Alhaji Ibrahim Gero thanked the corps members for the free drugs and the medical services, he urged stakeholders and members of the public to support the programme as it has helped them immensely.
