Historians Have Capacity To Find Lasting Solutions To Societal Problems– Prof Aghalino

President of Historical Society of Nigeria, HSN, Professor Samuel Aghalino has said historians can interrogate societal problems towards finding lasting solutions to it.
Professor Aghalino made this disclosure at Sokoto State University, Sokoto at the induction of newly graduated students of Sokoto State University .
According to Aghalino, the organization has the craft and capacity to interrogate the society because they’re not new to Nigerians as they evolved over time.
“Using the hindsight of history to check as societal challenges evolved over time and with this we can analyse, synchronize our findings because we are tired of talking to ourselves as Nigerians.
He enjoined them to explore history potential to excell in life stressing that as a historians there are a lot they can do that can fetch them money.
According to him ” As a historian you can specialize in environmental history, doing research on oil and gas, write speeches, profile for people, the diversification are enormous..
Earlier in his welcome address the Vice Chancellor of the University,Prof Garba Bashir, said, the History students have made a remarkable accomplishment in the School..
The VC represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic , Prof Muhammad Yarima expressed his gratitude to the President of the HSN, Prof Samuel Aghalino for being supportive to the University’s drive to develop a world class department of History assuring that with his support, the department will attain more feats
The VC blamed moral decayed ness in society to lack of historical consciousness.
On his part the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration , Prof Attahiru Ahmad Sifawa said, the inductees were lucky to be the first to be inducted from the school .
Sifawa who is also a historian, advised the graduates to remain good ambassadors of the profession and that of the Sokoto state university.

“Let me assure you of a brighter future out there and my advice is for you to be worthy ambassadors of this great world class institution.
“As we move forward, let us continue to nurture our passion for this noble profession and research, working hard to excell in our endeavors.
In his remark the head of History department Dr Murtala Marafa, thanked the President and other invited guest for gracing the event .
Marafa urged the inductees to imbibe the spirit of hard working saying if they are to succeed they need to read and work hard.
He also thanked the Vice Chancellor for releasing funds for the event saying the department ever remain grateful to him.
The highlight of event is the presentation of certificate to the inductees
