Idris inaugurates committee to mitigate power outage in Kebbi
Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi State, on Monday inaugurated a committee headed by the Deputy Gov. Umar Abubakar-Tafida, to investigate and address the persistent power outage in the state.
Idris performed the inauguration after a meeting with the Kebbi Elders Consultative Forum (KECF), on Monday in Birnin Kebbi.
He said that the state government had provided a monthly support of N150 million to the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO) to support electricity supply to the state.
He said the government had also purchased 75 transformers and other essential accessories based on KAEDCO’s recommendation.
The governor noted that the current electricity challenges lay solely with KAEDCO and not the state government.
He added that his administration had taken all necessary steps to support power supply in the state.

He said that the explanation became necessary following complaints from people about lack of electricity.
“Some residents of Kebbi State are complaining about a lack of electricity.
“Some said that they get power for only two or three hours a day.
“I don’t know what is happening; as far as we are concerned, we have done our part and fulfilled our obligations,” Idris said.
