IMPEACHMENT PLAN: ZAMFARA ASSEMBLY DIRECTS ITS LEGAL DEPARTMENT TO STUDY DEPUTY GOVERNOR’S LETTER

The Zamfara State House of Assembly has directed its legal department to study a letter sent to it by the Deputy. Governor of the state, Mahadi Aliyu Muhammad Gusau over his inability to honor the invitation of the house.

This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau by the Director General Press Affairs and Public Relations of the house, Mustafa Jafaru-Kaura.

The Deputy Governor Mahadi Aliyu Muhammad Gusau had i earlier sent a letter and court order to the house informing the lawmakers of his inability to honor the invitation sent to him by the house owing to a federal High Court order.

The statement said the state house of assembly in its sitting on Thursday directed its legal department to critically analysed the letter and court order sent to it by the Dep. Gov. of the state Mahadi Aliyu-Gusau.

The Speaker of the house, Nasiru Magarya who red the letter before the floor of the house at the plenary which drew the attention of the lawmakers of an impending court action instituted by himself and his office to restrain the house from any impeachment process against him.

After deliberations from members of the house about the letter, the Speaker said the house unanimously resolved that the legal department of the house should study the letter and court order.

Magarya then directed the legal department to provide the appropriate step to be taken and report back to the house very soon.
