Insecurity: Nigeria should lias with Iran to secure unmanned drones- Kaigama

Sylvanus Viashima, Jalingo

Comrade Bobboi Bala Kaigama, former President of Trade Union Congress and current senatorial candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party for Taraba Central senatorial zone has called on the federal government to collaborate with Iran and other countries to acquire unmanned drones to help tackle the issue of insecurity.

Kaigama said this in Jalingo at a media interaction program organized by the Correspondent’s Chapel of Nigerian Union of Journalists in the state for politicians ahead of the general elections in the country.

The former Governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress APC said that the past administrations in the country have demonstrated annoying levels of cluelessness and lack of capacity in tackling issues of National interest.

He insisted that when the NNPP Presidential candidate Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso comes to power, Nigerians will hive a sigh of relief as he is coming with policies that will turn around things for the good of the common man.

“We are having a paradigm shift from the era where we were so dogmatic about political parties to an era where we look at the candidates. Taraba state and Nigeria at large has an opportunity to get it right now.

“My zone, Taraba Central senatorial zone, is the only senatorial district in the country that is not linked to the national grid. It is the only zone in the state without a University and good medical facility. I have surveyed the environment and interacted with my constituents. I know the right thing to do.

“We had a minister of power from this state in this present administration and a seating governor who served as minister of power. Yet the dream of a Mambila Hydro power project remains in the pipeline. I will ensure the actualization of the project when I become a Senator.

“As we speak, I am no doubt the most competent and impactful candidate for the zone. I challenge any of my opponents to show what they have done for the people because some of them are still in government as we speak.

“This is the least developed zone in the state, despite the enormous natural resources and potentials in the zone. We have tourism potentials that are waiting to be explored. I will engage international partners to develop these cites and facilities. Youth employment is another key area of concern that I will address by setting up functional skills acquisition centres where youth will be trained and empowered to be self reliant.

“People say that the NNPP has no structure and I simply laugh at them. I am a structure myself. So the question of NNPP  not having a structure is funny. This is the thinking of people who’s level of political awareness is still at a very base level.

“On the issue of insecurity, Nigeria can lias with Iran to get unmanned drones to police our country. NNPP will do this when we come to power. We would also carry out mass recruitment of competent persons into both the Nigerian army and the police Force. How can a police Force of less than a million personnel police a country of over Two Hundred Million persons? It’s simply not possible. We would correct this. That is the only way we can have guaranteed security across the country”.

He advised the state government to drop the idea of selling the Mambila Beverage company as the move is not only needless and ill-timed but also very provocative and capable of starting a major crisis in the state.

“Mambila Beverage company is a very profitable company and there is no need selling it off. The community gave out their land free of charge for the company so that the government holds the land in trust for them. If you want to privatize it, first thing is to compensate them for their lands. Private individuals, local government areas have shares in that company and none of them is carried along in the process. Privatizing this company now under these circumstances will only create more problem. The idea should be dropped for now till there is more engagement”.
