Int’l Women’s Day: Women are the pillars of our society -Gov Kefas
By Sylvanus Viashima, Jalingo
Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has described women as the pillars of the society without whom there would be continued chaos and lack of order.
This is contained in a statement issued in Jalingo on Sunday and signed by Hon Emmanuel Bello SA Media and Digital Communication to the governor to mark the International Women’s Day 2026.
The Governor said that women’s role in the society is grossly underated and they are given less opportunities to showcase their potentials in most cases.
“As we mark this historic day in celebration of our women, I want to tell every woman out there that you are all very special. If it were not for your presence, I think chaos would have been the order of the day.
“That is why my administration pays premium attention to the plight of women in the State at all levels. It is on record that this is the first time we have this number of women occupying key positions in government. It is deliberate. Today, we have more women in elective positions than we ever had in the history of our dear State.

“We are also doing a lot to ensure that every girl child has the opportunity to receive quality education. This is part of the reasons we have made education cheaper than anywhere else in the country so that there would be no excuse to exclude the girl child from going to school.
“My administration is also doing so much to empower women both politically, economically and administratively. The Clerk of the State Assembly is a woman, as you know, just a while ago, we had women as our Head of Service and so many other key positions.
“As we mark this historic day, let me reiterate my administration’s commitment to the wellbeing of women and indeed, the good people of Taraba State. Let me once again congratulate all women and wish you a wonderful day” the statement reads in parts.
