Jigawa Commissioner Empowers 250 Constituents With N50m

Jigawa State commissioner for Humanitarian and Special Duties, Hon. Auwal Sankara, has disbursed N50 million in empowerment funds to over 250 youths and women in his constituency.

Hon. Sankara launched the cash empowerment programme during Governor Umar Namadi’s visit to Ringim local government for the state government’s initiative,  “Government and Public Engagement” (Gwamnatin Da Jama’a).

Hon. Auwal, who hails from Ringim local government, stated that the personal empowerment programme was designed to complement Governor Umar Namadi’s efforts in youth employment, job creation, and poverty alleviation in the state.

The commissioner explained that the cash empowerment was intended to help some beneficiaries expand their businesses while enabling others to start businesses of their choice.

According to him, each beneficiary received N250,000.

He also promised to continue supporting Governor Malam Umar Namadi’s 12-point agenda, which is designed to foster prosperity and development in Jigawa State.

In his remarks, Governor Namadi commended Hon. Sankara for the empowerment initiative, which aligns with his administration’s 12-point agenda, particularly its focus on empowerment, job creation, and poverty eradication.

Governor Namadi emphasized that addressing poverty is essential for accelerating economic growth and employment. He stressed the importance of skills training and creating an enabling business environment to achieve these goals.

He then called on elected officials, political officeholders, business leaders, and other wealthy individuals to empower those around them to drive growth and development.
