A wave of economic empowerment swept through Katsina State on Sunday as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Affairs, Alhaji Kabiru Masari, launched the second phase of a significant empowerment program.

The initiative, lauded by several state governors and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, saw 1,000 residents receive a substantial N300,000 cash starter capital each, aimed at fostering self-reliance and boosting employment opportunities.

The launch event, held in Malunfashi, drew a crowd of dignitaries, including the Governor of Yobe State, Hon. (Dr) Mai Mala Buni CON COMN; the Governor of Gombe State and Chairman of the Northern Governor’s Forum, Alh. Inuwa Yahaya; the Governors of Katsina and Kaduna States; and the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.

Governor Buni of Yobe State hailed the initiative as a “gateway to economic prosperity” for the beneficiaries, their families, and their communities.

Speaking on behalf of the attending governors, Governor Yahaya of Gombe State praised Alhaji Masari’s commitment to improving the lives and economy of the people.

He highlighted the cash support as a crucial starting point for beneficiaries to launch small businesses and achieve self-sufficiency.

Professor Yilwatda, the APC National Chairman, echoed the sentiment, stating that the empowerment program aligns perfectly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Initiative.”

He commended Alhaji Masari for his dedication to lifting his constituents out of poverty, calling the program “commendable and worthy of emulation.”

Former Katsina State Governor, Hon. Bello Aminu Masari, also addressed the beneficiaries, urging them to utilize the financial support wisely to improve their economic prospects.

Alhaji Kabiru Masari, in his address, emphasized the importance of using the funds for their intended purpose.  He encouraged the recipients to strive for self-reliance and envisioned them as future employers of labor.

Masari assured the people of continued support, aligning with President Tinubu’s vision of a brighter future.

The empowerment program, a significant investment in the community, is expected to generate a positive ripple effect, contributing to local economic growth and empowering individuals to build sustainable livelihoods.
