Kebbi ‘Amirul Hajj’ urges pilgrims’ discipline
Alh. Sama’ila Muhammad-Mera, Kebbi Amirul Hajj, on Tuesday urged intending pilgrims to represent Nigeria positively during the Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Muhammad-Mera, also the Emir of Argungu, made the call after meeting with security agencies and Kebbi Pilgrims Welfare Agency (PWA) at its permanent site in Birnin Kebbi.
He said projecting Nigeria’s positive image abroad was crucial, adding that the responsibility to do so rested on every pilgrim representing the state and the country.
“We will tolerate no action that violates Nigerian or Saudi laws. Gov. Nasir Idris and his wives have provided pilgrims’ essential needs,” he said.
“Items such as slippers, Vaseline, washing and bathing soap will be given to all pilgrims. These will be distributed free of charge before departure.
“No pilgrim will be allowed to board the aircraft with these items. This step prevents anyone from smuggling contraband and embarrassing the state or country,” he added.
He called on the committee and subcommittee members to work together and give their best to ensure the success of the 2025 Hajj operation.

“We’ve heard from the Welfare Agency Chairman that preparations are advanced. We’ve also received positive briefings from security agencies. This gives us great confidence.
“All security agencies are ready to perform their duties. The PWA is also fully prepared for a smooth and successful pilgrimage.
“About four aircraft will depart, starting Friday, May 9, In Sha Allah. All arrangements, both local and international, are complete. We are ready to proceed,” he said.
The Amirul Hajj advised first-batch pilgrims from Koko-Besse, Suru, and Shanga Local Government Areas to follow radio announcements for travel updates to the Holy Land.
