Kebbi donates 27 vehicles to Security agencies to bolster security in the State

Governor Nasiru Idris of Kebbi State has donated 27 vehicles comprising of Toyota Land cruisers and Hilux jeeps to the Army, Police, DSS, Civil Defence and the Vigilante group to tackle challenge of insecurity in the state.

While handing over the new vehicles to heads of security agencies at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday, he said the Police was given 10 vehicles while the Army got 6, DSS 4 and Civil Defence 3.  

The Security Adviser to the Governor and Vigilante Commander in the state also got 1 vehicle each.

He said the vehicles given to the security operatives would give them a sense of belonging and the commitment to protect lives and property of people in the state.

“We are making history again today because we are handing over 27 vehicles at the cost of N2bn to security agencies in Kebbi State, he said.

The Governor added that security agencies had complained that for many years  they were not given vehicles by previous administrations as support to tackle insecurity in the state.

“For this, we now find it necessary to procure 27 vehicles for them. We will also support them with other logistics and fuelling of the vehicles”, the Governor said.

The Commissioner of Police,  Kebbi Command, Chris Aimionowane who spoke on behalf of other heads of secury agencies in the state assured the Governor that the vehicles would be used to tackle banditry and other criminalities in the state.

 “We will use it to patrol the hotspots and bandits hideouts”, he said.

The event was attended by the,State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida,  Head of Service, Alhaji Sufyanu Garba Bena, Commissioners, Special Advisers and politicians.
