Presenting the individuals to the Governor, the Special Adviser on Special Duties, Alhaji Shafi’u Zauro, recounted their ordeal.
He explained that the detainees, who are traders from Dole-Kaina, had been imprisoned for a year before their eventual release through the Governor’s personal intervention.
“Your Excellency, you mandated me and another official to travel to the Republic of Benin to facilitate their release. We hired a lawyer and followed your instructions, but we couldn’t secure their freedom until you personally intervened during your visit to Benin Republic,” Alhaji Zauro said.
He further announced a personal donation of ₦5 million to assist the traders in reviving their businesses.
