In a significant blow to terrorist forces in the Lake Chad region, the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has announced the successful elimination of 140 terrorists and the surrender of 176 others. Additionally, 57 individuals suspected of involvement in terrorist activities have been arrested.

According to Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, Force Commander of MNJTF, the successes were achieved during the past month of Operation Lake Sanity II, which launched on April 23, 2024. The operation, involving troops from Cameroon, Chad, and Nigeria, has cleared several key terrorist strongholds, including Doron Naira, Zanari, and Bagadaza.

The MNJTF has also recovered a significant cache of weapons and ammunition, including machine guns, rifles, and motorcycles. Air interdictions conducted by national air forces have destroyed terrorist logistic bases and staging areas, neutralizing over 140 terrorists and destroying their platforms and materiel.

While the operation has achieved significant successes, it has not come without sacrifice. Six troops have been killed in action since the operation began, and the MNJTF has extended its condolences and prayers for the eternal rest of the fallen soldiers and quick recovery of the injured.

The success of Operation Lake Sanity II is attributed to the dedication and commitment of troops and the support of national operations, including Operation Emergence 4 in Cameroon, Operation Hadin Kai in Nigeria, and Chadian national operations. The MNJTF has expressed gratitude to the media for their support and cooperation and has assured continued updates on the operation’s progress.
