…Reviews Efforts in Last 12 Months

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Air Force NAF to intensify efforts against terrorism, insurgency, and other security threats.

Speaking at a meeting with senior officers at Headquarters NAF to review the significant achievements of the NAF over the past year.

The CAS noted that the NAF must be proactive and intensify its efforts to meet the Federal Government and Nigerian citizens’ expectations for a peaceful, safe, and secure nation.

Air Marshal Abubakar highlighted the upsurge in coup d’etat in the West African sub-region and the withdrawal of some nations from ECOWAS, which have negative impacts on regional security. He also expressed concern over the withdrawal of UN troops from MINUSMA and the influx of weapons and terrorists into Nigeria.

Despite these challenges, the CAS noted that the NAF has made significant progress in various operational areas, including the fight against insurgency, terrorism, banditry, and oil theft. He commended the efforts of NAF personnel and expressed gratitude for their support since he assumed office.

The meeting aimed to revisit NAF’s objectives, discuss performance and achievements, and identify challenges to be addressed. The CAS’s command philosophy, backed by five key enablers, has led to modest yet significant progress in various operational areas.

The NAF Abubakar noted, remains committed to intensifying efforts to meet Nigeria’s evolving security needs, ensuring a peaceful, safe, and secure nation for prosperity to thrive.
