NANS lauds TETFund for introducing TERAS

The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has commended the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND, for introducing the Tertiary Education Research and Application Systems, TERAS, in higher institutions across the country, saying the initiative is a significant step towards revitalizing and transforming Nigeria’s tertiary education system.

According to the NANS National President, Comrade Lucky Emonefe, “TERAS is a laudable initiative that aligns with our organization’s goals of promoting quality education, student welfare, and academic excellence. We appreciate TETFUND’s efforts in addressing the infrastructural deficits, enhancing academic quality, and promoting research and innovation in our higher institutions.”

Emonefe urged all higher institutions to fully embrace and implement TERAS, ensuring that their students benefit from this innovative programme.

“We encourage schools to on-board their students and provide the necessary support for the successful execution of TERAS,” Emonefe added. “This includes providing adequate infrastructure, training for lecturers, and creating an enabling environment for research and innovation to thrive.”

TERAS aims to improve infrastructure, enhance academic quality, promote research and innovation, and better equip students for future challenges.

“NANS believes that this initiative will significantly impact the education sector, leading to improved academic outcomes, increased graduate employability, and better preparedness for the workforce.

“We commend TETFUND for their commitment to transforming tertiary education in Nigeria and look forward to a successful implementation of TERAS. We also call on the government to provide the necessary support and funding to ensure the sustainability of this initiative.”
