Nasarawa ₦517.5bn 2026 budget passes second reading at assembly
The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed the ₦517.5 billion 2026 budget proposal into second reading.
Speaker Danladi Jatau confirmed the development during Monday’s proceedings in Lafia.
Jatau thanked members for their inputs, saying the bill had scaled second reading after extensive contributions.
He said, “The Appropriation Bill of ₦517,539,050,910.77 for the 2026 fiscal year has passed second reading.
“I will commit the bill to the Committee on Finance and Appropriations, which will report back on Dec. 15.
“All MDAs must appear before the various committees to defend their budget proposals.”
Majority Leader, Suleiman Azara, said the bill addressed critical needs across the state.

Azara said it proposed 30 per cent for infrastructure to boost economic activity and create jobs.
He urged colleagues to support the bill through subsequent stages.
Luka Zhekaba, Solomon Akwashiki, Larry Ven-Bawa, Mohammed Isimbabi and Deputy Speaker Mohammed Oyanki backed the proposal.
They said the bill would deliver greater democratic dividends and improve living standards.
They also praised Gov. Abdullahi Sule for presenting the budget early to meet citizens’ needs.
