Nasarawa assembly not a rubber stamp, says speaker

Mr Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, says that the assembly is not a rubber stamp of the executive arm in the state

The speaker said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lafia on Friday.

Jatau said that the 7th assembly is working closely with Gov. Abdullahi Sule to bring speedy and steady development to the state.

” For any government to progress, there must be cordial working  relationship among the arms of government; the three arms of government must work together for any meaningful development to take place.

“Whoever is saying that we are a rubber stamp is just an enemy of progress and may be an enemy of the state as well.

” I want to categorically state that we are not and we will never be a rubber stamp assembly.

“But we will continue to support the governor to succeed,” he said.

The speaker insisted that the projects executed by the governor in the last six years of his administration have direct bearing on the people of the state.

He also commended the governor for running an all-inclusive government, insisting that the interest of all citizens had been generally captured.

Jatau, particularly commended his colleagues for resolving to unite irrespective of party affiliation to support the ongoing developmental strides in the state.

Jatau, who congratulated President Bola Tinubu on the two years anniversary of his administration, also commended the president for the massive ongoing infrastructural development across the country.

He, however, called on Nigerians to support the president and the governors to succeed.
