Nasarawa Govt. to toll 65 km Kwandere-Garaku Road – Commissioner
The Nasarawa State Government says it will toll the 65 kilometres Kwandere-Garaku Road when completed to ensure proper maintenance.
Mr Mu’azu Gosho, Commissioner for Works and Transportation, stated this during a ministerial briefing on Monday in Lafia.
The briefing was organised by Dr Ibrahim Tanko, the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, to enable the various government ministries to showcase their achievements.
According to Gosho, the road currently under construction will serve as an alternative route to the Lafia- Akwanga- Keffi Road.
He said that the road when completed, would shorten the journey from Lafia to Keffi by more than 30 kilometres and also open up rural communities along that axis.
The Commissioner noted that though inherited from the previous administration, the current administration was committed to completing the road project using the over N9 billion refund from the Federal Government for the take over of the Lafia Cargo airport.
“The Gov. Abdullahi Sule-led administration has prioritised completing projects started by the previous administrations, including the Kwandere-Garaku Road,” he said.
The commissioner said that the idea of tolling the road was to ensure its maintenance for longevity considering the anticipated volume of traffic.

“This road will drastically cut travel time from Lafia to Abuja, and this will attract heavy vehicular flow, including heavy duty trucks.
“So, we will toll the road when completed to enable us to maintain it regularly,” Gosho said.
The works commissioner also said that the Gov. Sule-led administration would open up more rural roads to ease the movement of farm produce to the markets and boost the economic wellbeing of the people.
On his part, the Commissioner for Information, Tanko, said that the administration was working assiduously across all sectors to better the lots of citizens.
Tanko further said that the state government was working to develop the tourism sector and investments that would generate employment and boost the economy of the state.
