Nasarawa State College of Health Sciences matriculates 1,009 students

Nasarawa State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Keffi, matriculated 1,009 students on Thursday for the 2022/2023 academic session.

Provost of the college, Dr Suleiman Muhammad, said the students were selected out of 2,353 applications received for the session.

“I am delighted to welcome all students to the beginning of a life-defining and remarkable experience,’’ he told the matriculating students.

He said in addition to its regular courses, the institution had successfully established four professional programmes.

They are Biomedical Engineering Technology, Medical Image Processing and X-ray Technician, Diploma in Public Health and Epidemiology and Disease Control.

“These programmes made significant progress since their inception in 2022.

“Their introduction will play a crucial role in alleviating the persistent challenges the college faces in terms of admission needs and also enrich the state’s primary healthcare system,’’ he said.

Muhammad appealed to Gov. Abdullahi Sule for an upward review of the institution’s overheard costs, and said the current receipts were grossly inadequate to meet its growing needs.

“We also appeal for the governor’s intervention to facilitate progress in the on-going structural modifications at the college’s permanent site.

“We solicit the governor’s support to complete two students’ hostels, as they are essential to providing a conducive living environment, particularly for our female students,’’ Muhammad added.
