NASENI reaffirms commitment to promote made-in-Nigeria products
The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has reaffirmed its commitment towards promoting indigenous manufacturing and driving innovation in Nigeria’s industrial sector.
This was the thrust of the Focus Group Meeting organised for key stakeholders by NASENI in Awka, Anambra capital on Friday.
The stakeholders included representatives of Anambra Government, captains of industries, local manufacturers, and technology innovators.
Speaking at the event, Dr Ogungbenro Oluwaseyi, the Overseeing Officer of NASENI in Awka, said the Focus Meeting was convened to discuss strategies for strengthening Nigeria’s manufacturing sector and boosting patronage of locally made products.
Oluwaseyi, who described NASENI as pivotal to national development urged consumers to actively support made in Nigeria products and called on manufacturers to uphold quality standards.
He said the agency which focused on Research and Development (R&D), would continue to implement solutions that enhanced economic growth through science and technology.
“NASENI is committed to R&D that drives solutions to national
challenges, create wealth, generate business opportunities, and support job creation.
“While we encourage everyone to patronise Made-in-Nigeria products, manufacturers must also ensure that their products meet top-quality standards.
“We all share the responsibility of promoting locally made goods with passion, as this is key to revitalising Nigeria’s economy,” he said.
On his part, Mr Christian Udechukwu, Commissioner for Industry in Anambra said power supply was a major challenge affecting local manufacturers.
Udechukwu said the Gov. Chukwuma Soludo administration had taken steps to improve industrial growth through enhanced infrastructure, investment-friendly policies, and access to financing for local businesses.
“We are working tirelessly to address power supply issues in Anambra, and we believe that we can set a national example in power production, energy diversity,
cost efficiency, and reliability.

“Our goal is to produce and supply power to industries at
significantly lower rates than what is currently available,” he said.
On his part, Dr. Law Mefor, Commissioner for Information in Anambra called for a law making it mandatory for public officers to use only Made-in-Nigeria goods.
Mefor said such a policy would not only boost local industries but also strengthen Nigeria’s economy and global reputation.
The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that panelists from academia, government, and private sector shared views on critical issues such as policy support, financing, and market access for Made-in-Nigeria goods.
